Privacy Policy

This is a small, resident-run guide, and its data footprint is small on purpose. This page describes exactly what's collected — nothing more is happening behind the scenes.

What this site collects

A single first-party cookie, pref_lang, remembers which language you're reading the site in (English, Korean, Japanese, Simplified or Traditional Chinese) — set either when you pick a language from the menu or automatically on your first visit based on your browser's language setting. It stores only a language code, expires after one year, and is never shared with anyone.

That's the only cookie this site sets. There's no analytics script, no ad tracking, no social-media pixels, and no user accounts — you can't sign up or log in to the guide itself.

What the host sees

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which — like any web host — logs standard request data (IP address, browser type, pages requested, timestamps) for security and performance purposes. That's Cloudflare's infrastructure logging, not anything this site adds or has access to individually.

Affiliate links

Some pages plan to include affiliate links to booking partners (for example Booking.com, Viator, or GetYourGuide) to help support the site. As of this writing those links are plain outbound links with no tracking attached. If and when affiliate tracking goes live, this page will be updated to describe what that partner sets.

The Forum is separate

forum.marianaslife.com is a different application (a self-hosted Discourse community) with its own accounts, its own cookies, and its own privacy policy — this page only covers the guide itself. If you create a Forum account, Discourse's own privacy policy governs that data, not this one.
